This backyard wedding was truly nothing short of magical. The bride is the kind of girl who has been planning her wedding since the day she discovered what a wedding even was. When her wedding day finally arrived, you could absolutely tell that there was so much planning behind it. See how absolutely perfect this outdoor wedding with a tent turned out!

Photos That Look the Way the Day Felt

One of the most important things to Kennedy was that their wedding day was photographed in a way that looked the same way it felt. She wanted the photography of her outdoor wedding with a tent to feel real. Kennedy wished to hear the music from the day playing in the background of her mind as they viewed their favorite moments.

The beautiful chaos of the day with kids running around created an ideal environment for capturing the feelings of the day. Kennedy and Phillip were so genuinely excited to be with friends and family celebrating their love together. Even though these two were a little nervous about being in front of the camera, they instantly became comfortable because they were so caught up in being together.

I was ELATED when delivery day finally arrived for the wedding photos from Kennedy and Phillip’s wedding! It was one of the sweetest days and I could never share enough of all the best moments that we captured.

The Flowers, The History & The Family

Kennedy and Phillip included some traditional elements such as a first look, but also added in so many personal touches. This included adding unique touches even to the first look itself with some piano playing by Kennedy! The bride also arrived in style to the ceremony driven in a vintage car and escorted by her dad down the aisle. 

The white tulips for the bouquets and white roses for the wedding ceremony decorations and reception were simply gorgeous. The wedding flowers popped against the black bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen’s tuxedos matching the white of both Kennedy’s wedding dress and Phillip’s tuxedo jacket!

The biggest personal touch of the day was that the wedding took place in the backyard of Phillip’s childhood home. A handful of his siblings were also married at the same backyard wedding spot in Fredericksburg, Virginia! The home is super special to his family and not to mention–STUNNING. The bridesmaids also got ready with Kennedy in the house and had a blast all day.

Kennedy shared that as a couple, “we love to be outdoors and explore, we love music and shows, we love to watch football and cuddle our pups, and we love to be with friends and family.” Basically, their outdoor wedding with a tent had all of their favorites covered!

More elements of what drew them together were tied into their day through Kennedy’s unique wedding gift for Phillip. She gave him an Overland Rack for his Toyota Tacoma. It was such an intentional gift because going camping together is a regular activity of theirs. I love that this was a gift that they can enjoy on many adventures as a newly married couple.

Outdoor Wedding With a Tent Saves the Day

All the details of this day were intentionally thought out and truly so beautiful! After the ceremony, the newlyweds had a private first dance before family photos. This was another tender moment that not a lot of people do at their wedding! It’s photos like these that communicate the feelings of the moment that just have my jaw on the floor.

Unexpectedly, it absolutely poured right after cocktail hour when the reception was starting. Thankfully, we had completed all the photos we needed outdoors and this well-planned outdoor wedding with a tent made it so it didn’t affect the wedding at all. The rain backup couldn’t have been better planned! The couple danced into the night and we had a ball. It was a wedding I won’t soon forget. I hope these photos tell the story better than I ever could!
