What I love about adventure sessions is that they are whatever you make them to be. The experience is yours to design and I’m just around to capture it! From a short session celebrating your current season in life to a full day adventure, the possibilities are endless! Let me explain why this couples adventure was not what I expected it to be in the absolute best way!

A Couples Adventure That’s Meant to Be

Angie and I have been Instagram buddies for a bit since I had the pleasure of doing a sweet photography mentorship with her. She is someone with an infectious personality who I have come to adore so quickly. After Angie discovered that I was spending my summer in Montana she immediately reached out to book a session!

Jacob and Angie are from a small town in Washington just a few hours east of Seattle. This meant that a couples adventure in Glacier National Park was the best choice at just a five-hour drive. We put their adventure session on the calendar and started anticipating the day and planning for their long drive!

These two make my heart absolutely soar. Jacob and Angie are as sweet as can be and are so giggly together. It’s incredible to witness! They are fun to be around and even easier to capture with my camera! On the day of their shoot, it was like any other for me as I prepared to make a little tour to Glacier National Park. But, for them it was about to be a day unlike any other!

How a Couples Adventure Turns into an Engagement Session

On the drive out to Montana from Washington, the couple stopped for a little picnic at a spot that Jacob had previously chosen. While all alone on a small dock overlooking a lake, Jacob surprised Angie with a marriage proposal!

The couple would go shopping and joke about how pretty the engagement rings were that they saw and Angie had even pointed out one she liked more than the others. Jacob already knew that he wanted to propose so their session was the perfect opportunity. He got the ring she had admired and proposed!

Even though I love documenting proposals, especially ones that are surprises, I actually had no idea that this one was happening! I arrived in the park for their adventure session prepared to meet them in person for the first time. Angie approached me in the parking lot immediately holding out her hand saying, “Hi, Kmac. So…Jacob asked me to marry him today.”

All I could offer in response was a jaw drop and my congratulations! I almost jumped out of my shoes at something so exciting and sweet! The shoot that we once thought was a simple adventure with a Glacier National Park photographer, had become their engagement session.

The couple’s adventure turned into a special engagement session that was the most perfect evening. We spent the time surrounded by stunning mountains, saw the most beautiful mountain goats (my favorite animal on the planet) and laughed our way through the whole night. I loved every second of it and it became the best evening ever!
