Multi-Location Full-Day Beautiful Cannon Beach Sunset Couples Session
When you visit a specific location more than once, it can start to become familiar. After returning to the same spot, what if we instead started treasuring it even more? That’s my relationship with the Oregon Coast. I can return to the same spot during the same season and even the same time of day. But, as I revisit with a different couple, I always value it in a newly found way. See how we captured this Cannon Beach sunset couples session in a brand new light!
When a couple chooses to go for an all-day adventure either rain or shine, the sky’s the limit on what we can photograph together. For Melissa and Peyton’s Oregon Coast couples getaway, it was all about hitting different locations and capturing the alternating light throughout the day.
When it comes to shooting couples portraits, it’s all about the lighting. This Oregon Coast photoshoot involved three main locations which meant three different lighting scenarios. The variations in light created a fun bit of diversity in their images. I really love it when shoots are like that!
It was enjoyable taking longer breaks as we moved between locations because it allowed Melissa and Peyton to appreciate the scenery. Since this was their first Cannon Beach sunset session, I wanted them to look back and remember the location more than the photoshoot. That’s why a full-day couples session ending with an Oregon Coast sunset was the perfect match for their anniversary celebration.
The Oregon Coast is one of my favorite places in the whole country for an elopement, engagement, couples portrait session or anything! I remember just feeling awestruck by the beauty of it the first time I ever went. Growing up on the East Coast, we don’t ever see mountains colliding with the beaches, so seeing my first Cannon Beach sunset was so special to me.
Since that trip about three years ago, I’ve tried to go back as often as I can, so when a couple asks–I can’t resist!
Melissa is an incredible photographer in Texas and we have vastly different photographic styles. She intentionally hired me knowing this and it was really sweet to not feel intimidated by our differences, but instead supported and appreciated! Melissa and Peyton are two super kind individuals, so putting them together is even better!
I loved how easy the shoot was and afterwards we all went out to dinner and as the perfect cap on the shoot! They spent the night at a campsite while I car camped nearby so we ended up together again the next morning. On top of our Cannon Beach sunset and other adventures we got to explore more of my favorite spots on the coast. It was special watching them experience it all for the first time!
The day (and the extra time afterwards) was a first-time experience of the PNW for them and a new Oregon Coast memory for me that I’m adding to an ever-growing list!
