Glacier National Park Proposal and Adventure Session

Over the past five years of being a full-time wedding and elopement photographer, I have photographed my fair share of proposals. They truly are some of the sweetest moments, and as the photographer, it’s sometimes more nerve-wracking than weddings. This Glacier National Park proposal was a really special one!
At the weddings and elopements that I photograph, we usually have everything planned out (for the most part) sometimes down to the minute! After shooting around 100, I have a general idea for how the day might go and when different moments happen, but proposals are not always the same!
When Paul reached out to me with his vision of proposing to Caroline, I just knew I had to help him make it happen. We talked through multiple scenarios and finally landed on one that was rock solid. After a few phone calls and discussion about photo locations and logistics, we had a plan!

Sun Point was the spot we chose and it was PERFECT. It’s a place offering panoramic views of Saint Mary Lake and the surrounding peaks. It is by far one of my favorite spots in the park! The weather in Glacier National Park is usually pretty unpredictable, and can change with the blink of an eye. This spot in particular stays extremely windy. I once had to change locations for a proposal session because the wind became too strong!
On the day Paul chose for his Glacier National Park proposal there was absolutely NO wind. The lake water was as clear as glass, and it was one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen. For a late September day in Montana, that kind of weather is almost unheard of.
When the couple arrived, Paul asked me for a photo on his phone as our sign that he was about to propose. I took the photo and as he turned to look at Caroline, he then dropped onto one knee and asked her to spend forever with him! I felt so honored to capture such an unforgettable moment!

After soaking in the excitement of the proposal, we headed to Many Glacier for a sunset adventure session. This area of Glacier National Park is renowned for its dramatic mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, and abundant wildlife. It provided the perfect setting to celebrate Paul and Caroline’s engagement.

The two of them are kind-hearted people who truly love each other and it was such a joy to spend time with them. We laughed and enjoyed the evening taking so many fun photos! From exploring parts of Swiftcurrent Lake, to waterfalls and wide open fields–we had a blast. There is no lack of excitement especially after a surprise Glacier National Park proposal!

As the sun dipped lower, we ventured to the meadows, where the towering peaks of the Many Glacier area framed the couple in their happiest moments. Paul and Caroline embraced the adventure, running through the fields, and basking in the last rays of sunlight. The alpenglow painted the mountains in soft pink and orange hues, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.

Paul and Caroline’s surprise proposal and adventure session in Glacier National Park was nothing short of magical. Every second, from the Sun Point proposal to the Many Glacier celebration, felt like a scene from a fairy tale. Paul and Caroline’s love and Glacier’s rugged beauty created a cherished story that will last a lifetime.
To all couples dreaming of their own romantic adventure in Glacier National Park, whether it’s a surprise proposal, an elopement, or an engagement session, this stunning place offers an unmatched setting for moments that will take your breath away.
