Summer in Montana is glorious, and paired with a stunning intimate wedding–it’s pure perfection. The bride told me the day before the wedding that she almost wanted all of it shot on film, which is one of my DREAMS. While I shot mostly digital, I incorporated a ton of wedding film photography and it was SO FUN!

The Perfect Setting For an Intimate Wedding Day

Through a personal connection, Victoria and Kevin hosted their wedding at Crazy Mountain Ranch near Big Sky, Montana. The ranch restored buildings from old Montana towns and turned them into modernized hotel rooms. All of their guests had a place to stay, and the renovated saloon hosted their meals. I got to stay in one of the rooms and the experience was top tier!!

The property sits on 18,000 acres and creates authentic experiences for their guests. These activities include: horseback riding, mountain bike trails, and fly fishing. Victoria and Kevin spent their wedding weekend enjoying all of it with their families! Enjoy reading about this intimate Montana wedding and let yourself be fully immersed into their story!

The Digital & Wedding Film Photography Story

Victoria and Kevin currently live in New York City, are avid runners, and share a love for the outdoors. They have a deep affection for each other that exudes to everyone around them. During our first call, they shared that they began planning a big wedding, but it quickly became overwhelming. As a result, they thought: “We should just bring our families to Montana and go on a vacation for our wedding.” 

I could not agree more!!!

There were only about 25 people present for the Montana intimate wedding and each person holds a unique and special place in the couple’s lives. From the moment I met V + K, I could tell that they love their families deeply and a love like theirs makes for an unforgettable wedding. 

The morning of their wedding was one of the most relaxed days I have ever been a part of. Kevin and Victoria both went on separate runs around the property, and also took their time getting ready! Following a tender first look, we walked all around the western-themed town. We then took even more digital and wedding film photography before heading to the top of a mountain for their ceremony.

The ceremony was heartfelt and tear-filled. Kevin’s sister and Victoria’s brother officiated the ceremony together and each wrote extremely kind words about their siblings. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room (on the mountain) which included mine!

Following the ceremony, Crazy Mountain Ranch set the pair up for a horse-drawn carriage ride through their western-styled main street while their families cheered them on. Smiles were ALL AROUND! We took a few more sunset photos and they had a special (and DELICIOUS) steak dinner.

At the very end of the evening, Kevin’s sister, an extremely talented musician, serenaded the couple with a rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and the whole room was in tears.
