A Photographer Friendship That’s More Than Just Online Business Coaching
When I think back to the beginning of my photography journey I can remember exactly how it felt. At the time, I was a college student who had unexpectedly fallen into a full-time photography career by the end of my senior year. I graduated college having already worked the most difficult year of my business! I was exhausted and ready for a boost, so I invested in photography education! If you are at either a starting or turning point in your own photography business, then here’s how online business coaching could be the best next step for you!
After graduating, I took the leap and invested in a six-month mentorship with a photographer I had already respected. We really hit it off and our mentorship was the encouragement I needed to progress in my business. With my mentor as a guide, I moved into the next phase with complete confidence and direction.
Meeting you wherever you are in your business is the spot where I find so much fulfillment. Even though I love working with my couples, doing photography mentorships means I get time with my people. We can experiment, learn, and be creative together in our shared photographer community! It’s even better when the experience combines in-person and online business coaching like this mentorship I did with Lillie Snell Photography!
PICTURE THIS: a mentorship that leads to a photography session we shoot together! Even though I am grateful for the doors that online business coaching has opened, I still love connecting with my mentees in person! Meeting up with a friend for coffee is already one of my favorite pastimes and doing so with a fellow photographer is even better! Getting together for coffee (in this case, dinner!) and a shoot is how we capped off my mentorship with Lillie.
Lillie is just the sweetest photographer who I was able to meet with monthly via Zoom over a three-month period. During our time together we worked through a handful of things she needed help with in her business. I provided homework with follow-ups and prepared for our meetings by researching any topics she wanted to discuss. It was so incredibly fun to get to know her through these business coaching sessions. The sweetest part was how it all culminated in this shoot!
I put together a styled elopement shoot in Virginia Beach and Lillie flew out from Georgia to join me. We got dinner together and then headed to the Chesapeake Bay for the shoot. I worked with a local bridal shop (Milk & Honey Bride) and a local florist (Buds & Blooms Florals) and put together a shoot that she would love!
The couple (Cat and Joey) are friends of mine from Virginia Beach and they were absolutely perfect for this shoot! Cat kept saying, “It feels like I’m playing dress up and it’s so fun!” We hung out until the sun went down and had the best time photographing the couple side by side. Cat and Joey read love letters to each other, popped champagne, and ran around the beach. We stopped once we couldn’t possibly take any more photos!
It was so fun to walk alongside Lillie as she was able to experiment with film photography in a no-pressure environment. I am no film expert, but after a year or so of learning it myself, I found it fun to help her begin that journey!
Whether you are figuring out how to start a photography business or just looking for guidance in a certain area, I know that online business coaching will be so helpful for you too! It can be so hard just starting out or scaling and I cannot wait to begin the process with you and watch your business thrive!
